The MC20 was developed in collaboration with motorsport engineering company Dallara and debuted for the 2022 model year. Design work was carried out internally at Centro Stile Maserati in Turin, Italy, and the cars were assembled at the Viale Ciro Menotti plant in Modena. The open-topped Cielo was announced in May 2022 with the launch of the PrimaSerie Edition. With a planned production run of 65 examples worldwide, the cars are finished in exclusive Acquamarina three-layer paint with Matte White Gold trim, Ice Alcantara and leather upholstery, and 20″ PrimaSerie wheels. A power-folding two-piece electrochromic glass roof panel, a surround-view camera, and automatic emergency braking are standard equipment.
